YOUTH: Sculpting Animals in Clay AFTERNOON July 24 – 28

$240.00

  • Teacher: Scott McClellan
  • Student Age: 9 – 12 years old
  • Camp Length: 5 Days
  • Date: July 24 – 29
  • Time: 1:30 – 4:30
  • Materials fee $25 – included in price

Students will learn to observe and represent line, mass, form, volume, and texture by modeling clay to sculpt animals out of clay. The process will familiarize students with all basic handbuilding techniques used to construct forms using clay. Pieces will be finalized by using slip and glaze ceramic surfaces to complete their sculptures.

The exploration of movement, weight distribution, and gesture will enhance the pieces to depict animals accurately. Both abstraction and realism will be embraced to help develop the artist’s eye to multiple approaches in representing animal figures. From spines to scales to fur, students will use multiple tools to represent texture over form.

ALL LEVELS

Come dressed comfortably, with clothes you can get messy.

Tools and materials will be provided – materials included in price.

Covid Statement: The Seattle Artist League currently requires masking for all students and teachers. We will evaluate the policy before the start of camps. Please check back for updates.
