Training for Figure Models

Have you ever wanted to try art modeling, but don’t know quite where to start? If so, you’re not alone and that’s why this one-day class is for you. Many of the models at Seattle Artist League started by taking this class!
There are three equally important qualities required to be an art model: be reliable; be interesting; be still. Art models come in all shapes, sizes, ages and genders!

You’ll learn everything you need to confidently get started as an art model during the first half of the class. We’ll talk about posing, working with artists, the different environments you might work in. In addition to finding work, we’ll also discuss what you can expect to be paid, as well as what’s expected of you as a professional.

We’ll practice posing. Wear loose fitting clothes for this, and expect them to get a little dirty.

Following that, in the second half of the class, we will invite artists into the studio to draw and paint while students take turns posing nude. Please bring a robe and slippers to wear between poses.

At the end we’ll have some time for some feedback along with discussion between the models and the artists.
