Students will construct a 3D self portrait in the expressive style of the ancient Japanese Haniwa. Options will include a figurative portrait displaying hobbies or interests, an animal form that represents themselves, or an architectural form of significance to themselves. These forms will be a combination of coil and slab built sculptures. Students will be encouraged to use metaphorical representations to think outside the box and get creative while building clay constructing skills.
