This Beginning Pottery and Wheel Throwing camp will introduce you to the most accessible way to make a pot, then guide teens through a range of hand and wheel forming techniques available to potters. Participants will be taught basic wheelthrowing skills and techniques such as centering, pulling cylinders, shaping, trimming, pulling handles, decorating and glazing.

They can advance with the clay, increasing their repertoire of forms using slab, coil, and pinch methods, as well as learning to throw on the wheel. Participants will practice making cups, handled mugs, bowls, plates, and vases on the pottery wheel. Decoration will include a variety of colorful slips and glazes. Pottery will be microwave and dishwasher safe.

ALL LEVELS, TEENS

Come dressed comfortably, with clothes you can get messy.

Tools and materials will be provided – materials included in price.

For teens wanting an immersive ceramics education who take both morning and afternoon sessions of ceramics classes and work on a single or multiple week individualized course of study (and fun).
