Starting Points: Drawing from Art with Fran O’Neill

  • Teacher: Fran O’Neill
  • Class Length: 8 sessions
  • Start Date: Wednesdays, begins January 13, 2027
  • Time: 6:00 – 9:00 pm PDT

When you don’t know what to make next, start with something that already contains possibilities. Borrow a shape, a movement, a composition, a strange relationship. Draw from it, alter it, combine it, move away from it, and let one drawing generate the next.

Using artworks as starting points, students will make drawings that build, shift, layer, simplify, exaggerate, and transform what they see. The goal isn’t to make a faithful copy. It’s to discover ways into your own work!

This is a class for getting unstuck, generating ideas, and finding unexpected directions when the blank page feels a little too blank.
