Pottery: Teapot Set (Wheel-throwing)
Welcome to the classic pottery challenge: Tea Sets! In this brief class, participants will achieve a whole new level of skill, all on one project. This class is for students who have taken beginning pottery at least once and want to elevate their pottery game.
This class will elevate your wheel-throwing, handle pulling, clay shaping, and ceramic design abilities. Learn the fundamental skills of crafting a teapot, including learning the art of handle design that balances form and function, and pulling and attaching a handle that not only adds aesthetic value but also provides comfortable lifting and practical use to the pot. Participants will also learn to make a well fitted lid, and a complementary spout.
Along with your teapot you’ll make some cups – a matching set! Participants will learn reliable methods to throw repeatable shapes in repeatable sizes. Achieve a level of uniformity that reflects your growing expertise.
This class is for anyone who has taken beginning pottery / wheel-throwing, at any school. Artists with a passion for creating functional and aesthetically pleasing tea sets. Enthusiasts looking to challenge themselves and elevate their pottery game.
Our pottery and glazes are microwave and dishwasher-safe. Please come wearing comfortable clothes that you can get messy in. Materials provided. Includes 25 lb of clay. Additional clay: $18.
