Painting 3: Figure in Interior (Clothed) THURSDAY MORNING begins 1.8

$475.00

  • Teacher: Erin Milez
  • Course Length: 8 sessions
  • Start Date: Thursday, January 8
  • Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

What creates more drama and mood than lighting? Interiors are one of the few places with very controlled and directed light sources. In this course, we will work to understand light logic and how it applies to the human form in interior spaces. Working both from the model and (in some cases) student’s personal reference images, students will learn how to render form and recognize light effects on different material surfaces, like clothing, flesh, or wood. Students should expect to work in limited palettes to refine their understanding of value as well as warm/ cool temperature relationships.

Materials List:

  • Basic drawing supplies (pencils, vine charcoal, eraser)
  • Small sketch pad paper (for notes or small thumbnail studies)
  • Canvas Paper or Gessoed Panels (8)
Medium sizes–roughly 16×20”, variable per student preference
  • Long-Handled Brushes in a variety of sizes
  • Filbert Brushes: For an organic look.
  • Flat Brushes: For a contemporary abstract look.
  • Paint: Oil or acrylic, depending on your preference.
  • Colors: bring colors you are interested in working with. Pure pigments encouraged. New colors may be suggested to you.
