- No-Tears Critique
Artists need feedback to grow, but most critiques swing between harsh judgment and vague praise. This class offers a clear, structured way to see, think about, and talk about art – without the sting. The class builds on Description, Analysis, and Interpretation. Students challenge their views of what makes a “good” artwork, as they practice close observation and clear expression, learning to engage in dialogue that strengthens each artist’s process, as well as their own. Guided discussions deepen perception and help translate insight into stronger visual choices. We’ll look closely at artworks, and practice giving feedback that is specific, respectful, and genuinely useful.Prerequisite: Beginning Drawing, Painting, or Sculpture at least twice, or two or more full drawing, painting, or sculpture courses at the Seattle Artist League.
Previous critique students are invited to join for FREE. Contact us for your registration coupon. We’d love to practice with you.
