$275.00

  • Teacher: Scott McClellan
  • Class Length: 6 Weeks
  • Date: Thursdays, beginning May 25
  • Time: 1:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Materials fee $25 – included in price

Intro to Ceramics

This is a friendly prerequisite pottery class that will cover the broadest range of working with clay, to give students as many foundational tools and techniques for working with clay as possible. In this class, students will learn both hand building and wheel throwing techniques, and experiment with slips and glazes. While wheel throwing skills take time to develop, students will also learn how to pinch, coil, and slab-build pots and structures. With these three hand building methods, you will be able to make just about any object out of clay. With hand building, clay adapts to your level quickly, so you can begin producing playful forms on the first day of class.

A variety of techniques and processes will be used to create handmade pottery that is both dishwasher and microwave safe.

ALL LEVELS

Come dressed comfortably, with clothes that can get messy.

Tools and materials will be provided – materials included in price.
