Intermediate Pottery: Wheel Throwing
Students will focus on lidded vessels. During this course students will concentrate on lidded vessels with special attention given to good design and production techniques. Possibilities include sugar bowls, tagines, casseroles, lidded tea mug, lidded canisters, butter dishes, and ginger jars. The use of the slab roller could be incorporated into the design of items. At the end of the course students will be proficient with different lid forms, including cutting lids from closed forms and the use of hand-building tools. Students can decorate with textures and patterns that can alter glaze appearances, resulting in vivid contrasts and highlights.
