- Teacher: Ruthie V.
- Course Length: 8 sessions
- Class Days: Fridays, beginning February 7
- Time: 10:00 am – 1:30 pm
Draw and paint expressive portraits, choosing your preferred medium each week. If you have taken Beginning Drawing, you are encouraged to focus on drawing. If you have taken Beginning Painting, you are invited to work with paint.
Using modified photographs, sketches, focus tricks, and memory, you will create portraits that capture proportion, mood, and personality. Learn methods to improve observational skills and expand your ability to alter what you see to express more. Explore artistic languages for: proportion, harmony, depth, dimension, visual impact, dynamic or quiet forms, and focus.
The focus is not on creating photo-realistic works but on crafting portraits that feel believable and full of life. This course emphasizes observation, experimentation, working and re-working an idea, and developing your unique artistic voice.
