Drawing in Color

  • Teacher: Fran O’Neill
  • Fees: Model fee included in course price
  • Class Length: 8 Week Class Session
  • Start Date: Wednesdays, begins October 4 (Class will not meet on November 22)
  • Time: 6:00 – 9:00 pm PDT

This online level II drawing class with color will invite students to study live models, still life, and combined or extended interiors to play with scale and point of view.

Each week, we will find different ways to relate to space, form, volume, and color; all vital to composition and a way to hone hand/eye coordination. Students will explore various approaches through different materials and media, always with an emphasis on structure and composition. This class will, at times, focus on still life and expanding the picture plane. Emphasis will be on the ‘making’ – with constructive feedback given 1:1 during the class, as well as group critiques. Students should be willing to discuss their work as they expand their vocabulary, and be challenged to rework a drawing.
At times, various artists contemporary and historical may be discussed in relation to their approaches and an analysis of individual works will occur. Students should expect to expand their perceptual drawing skills.  This class is designed for the intermediate student, with active drawing time in each session.
