Drawing From Art

  • Teacher: Charity Baker
  • Class Length: 8 Weeks
  • Class Days: Tuesday, beginning January 6
  • Time: 2:00 – 5:00 pm PST

In this class we will meet virtually to explore current museum and gallery exhibits from the USA and abroad and then draw from the work. Through this global venue we will explore key issues of how a work of art becomes successful, in some cases to last through the test of time.

The class hours will be divided first by looking at artwork together from various current shows, and then by making drawings in response to what we learn.

Fundamental drawing exercises will be reviewed and will reference the topics of the week. Beginners, intermediate and advanced students are all welcome; this is an exploratory class based in formalism and observation, leading to expression and abstraction.

The goal is to understand the power of drawing, and to create a unique language of your own. Homework will be assigned in some cases to further that endevor.
