Build and decorate a one-of-a-kind ceramic skull. In this three-session workshop, students will construct a skull form in clay, then transform it with color, pattern, texture, and decorative details. Add flowers, flames, stars, vines, lace patterns, moons, stripes, dots, geometric designs, or your own strange inventions.
The first session will focus on building the skull and establishing its major shapes. In the second and third students will decorate the surface using slips, underglazes, carved lines, impressed textures, and glaze.
Skulls can be spooky, elegant, funny, glamorous, or wonderfully bizarre. No previous experience is necessary. All materials are provided.
