In this pottery class students will improve their skills in making expressive ceramic vessels and tableware through throwing clay on the potter’s wheel.

Beginning Wheel 2: Pots with Handles
Students will focus on pots with handles. During this course students will concentrate on pots with handles with special attention given to good design and production techniques. Possibilities include sugar bowls, casseroles, tea caddy, teapots, decorative urns, vases, pitchers. The use of the slab roller could be incorporated into the design of items. At the end of the course students will be proficient with different handle forms, including pulling and attaching handles and the use of hand-building tools. Students can decorate with textures and patterns that can alter glaze appearances, resulting in vivid contrasts and highlights.
