Beginning Figure Sculpture:
Materials: Wire, Mesh, and Burlap
This new Figure Sculpture course is designed to deepen your understanding of the human figure, enhance artistic expression, and broaden multi-media skills. By studying the works of three distinct sculpting artists and exploring three different but interconnected materials, you’ll discover new possibilities in your creative practice.

- Jaume Plensa: aluminum wire mesh
- Magdalena Abakanowicz: aluminum wire armature and burlap
In this unique sculpture class, you’ll explore a variety of styles and materials, blending the use of live models with challenging material techniques. This approach will encourage a new perspective for participating artists, sparking innovative ways of seeing and creating.
The course will include repeated sessions with life models, allowing you to refine your sculptures over multiple sessions. Through the study of exemplary works and focused practice, you’ll learn to emphasize movement, balance, flow, and expression in your sculptures.
