Beginning Figure Sculpture: Core Foundations with Armature, Microcrystalline Wax and Polymer clay

Want to sculpt figures in fun active poses? This is the class you want. This course teaches you to construct your own armature for sculptures that can stand unsupported, even on one leg, capturing the essence of dynamic poses.

Throughout the series, we focus on understanding the body’s core elements and landmarks, extending fluid gestures through the arms and legs. A deep dive into anatomical details will enhance the grace and expressive power of your sculptures, allowing for a more nuanced portrayal of the human figure.

We’ll cover key sculpting techniques such as proportion, flow, identifying bony landmarks, measuring in three dimensions, and making artistic adjustments for effect. Our learning process will include sessions with live models and studies of exemplary works, offering you the opportunity to refine your sculptures over multiple sessions. Your creations with microcrystalline wax will be durable instantly. The polymer clay can be baked to harden.

Participate in ‘Sculpting the Figure’ to develop your skills in creating expressive, lifelike figure sculptures that capture the essence of human expression and movement.
