“Figure Drawing: Anatomy” is an 10-week course that offers a comprehensive study of human anatomy, an important aspect for any artist interested in figure drawing. The course is structured around George Bridgman’s teachings, renowned for his methods in artistic anatomy. Bridgman’s approach is to simplify the human body into basic shapes and forms, which assists artists in accurately depicting the skeletal and muscular structures. Understanding these fundamentals is key to portraying the human form in various poses and movements, essential for dynamic and realistic figure drawing.

Throughout the course, students will engage with Bridgman’s techniques, learning to visualize and render the body in action and at rest. This method not only improves drawing accuracy but also enhances the artist’s ability to capture the essence of human motion. The course is designed for all skill levels, aiming to deepen the students’ understanding of anatomical details and their application in art. Whether for beginners seeking foundational knowledge or advanced artists refining their skills, this course provides valuable insights into the art of figure drawing through the lens of human anatomy.

ALL LEVELS. If you have never taken a drawing class, be prepared to have your vision challenged.
If you have never taken a figure drawing class before, please bring the prerequisites of curiosity, patience, self compassion, and tenacity.
REPEATABLE CLASS. There is always more to learn about the figure, and your responsive style.
RECOMMENDED: For an immersive experience, artists are encouraged to take this class in conjunction with the afternoon Figure Sculpting Anatomy class. Use the coupon code DRAW&SCULPT at checkout to get 10% off each class, when purchased as a set.
