…Before I can share the news, just in case you missed my previous V. Note about Nicolás Uribe, I should tell you who he is.
Nicolás Uribe is a world famous painter currently based in Bogotá, Colombia. He is known especially for his portraits, and has a youtube channel to which he’s been posting a demo a day (Monday-Friday) for 2020. He’s highly skilled and his videos are extraordinarily generous, sharing his personal thoughts and expertise while showing us his nimble painting process from start to finish, including the failures like this one, in which his painting doesn’t go well, and he shows us how he handles a painting gone bad. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: you should check these demos out.
As Keith tells it, Nicolás clicked to follow Kieth, liked all of his posts, and asked if he could buy the Birthday Cake painting. Keith told Nicolás that he would rather trade a painting for a painting, so Nicolás painted a portrait of his mother and gave it to Keith.
That right there is enough to cause a good bit of squeelie excitement and giddy-whoop, but there’s more! Last Friday, Nicolás painted a portrait of Keith and his cat Scully, right there on his demo channel.
Portrait of Keith Pfeiffer by Nicolás Uribe
He said some very nice things about Keith’s work in the video description as well:
“We finish off this Only Earths week with a painting of the fantastic Keith Pfeiffer (his storefront opens in a couple of days so keep an eye open!) I’m a huuuuge fan of his work if you can’t tell :) I wanted to paint him surrounded by this veil of vagueness, because I’ve always felt his work has a magical quality of presenting something that is not there. I know, it sounds crazy. “
Keith is preparing to open a little online store for his paintings. Keith and Nicolas share a similar goal of making a place where people can buy small paintings at an affordable price, with free shipping. “I want the art buying process to be as easy as possible for people. It goes live next Friday but I’ve already sold 2 paintings before it even opened!” Keith will be adding new paintings every month. Check out his website. His store goes live on Friday!
