Posts have continued to pop up for our 30 Day January Creative Challenge. New people have joined in! Instagram continues to stand out as the social media of choice for most artists – we now have over 1000 posts! Some people are new to social media, some are new to drawing. Everyone is posting stuff we love. Below are some of my favorites.
Out of the hundreds of posts, there were 50 that I found especially delightful. Special prize winners are announced at the end of this email. Congratulations to all the participants in our creative challenge!
Before I start on Week 2, I want to post a couple of projects from Week 1, including this illustration of an art space complete with supplies, snacks, and medication.
…and a chicken fell through the quacks. Delores Haugland, this is a mighty fine Chanticleer! My apologies for not posting this with last week’s prize winners. Please contact us for $50 off your next class at the League.

The googly eyes were so googly I posted them separately! You can see the full selection here.
Memory of William Scott
The idea of this challenge was to study a painting, and then recreate it from memory. I would have loved to watch these be created, (I would have loved to catch people cheating!) but the final results posted… well… by the time they get posted to Instagram they kinda just look like the original painting, so there’s not much to see. Here are a couple of memory posts I thought were particularly well done:
Crumpled, Rumpled and Neat
This laundry list invitation got a pile of great responses!
Clearly, artist and designer Kristina Sztokbant has some drawing skills. We love this monopod! Kristina, if you’re in the area you are welcome at the League any time. If you’re far away, please know you have a new fan club of League artists, and a few foot fetishists.
Mimi Torchia Boothby

Rachel Wilch
Rachel blew us away with this creative solution that is both humorous and graceful. What a firequacker idea! We love her creativity. Congratulations and well ducky done Rachel! Please contact us to claim your $100 gift certificate to the League… or we can take it off your bill.
More on the way!
Thanks to everyone who is posting their work. It’s great to see so many people joining in! If you’d like to give it a try, you don’t have to do all 30. You could just choose one that inspires you, post it, and feel quite satisfied. Winner!
