League artist Siobhan Wilder’s work will be part of COCA’s Motherland show this month. Wilder paints mysterious scenes. She wants to give the viewer the sensation that there are messages all around us, and we might be able to clue into them with a little concentration. The scene above was one that she happened upon in real life: a mammoth skull in an alley.
“Indian Alley is in the Skid Row area of L.A. and part of the mural by Jaque Fragua is visible to the right, at the time it read Decolonize and Keep Calm.” – Siobhan Wilder
Siobhán Wilder’s work is influenced by Thierry De Cordier’s seascapes, Antonio López Garcia’s interiors and Charles Paget Wade’s collections at Snowshill, England. You can see more of her work on her website https://www.siobhanwilder.com/ and instagram https://www.instagram.com/blue_eyed_crow/
