We received a second postcard from Thailand! Nikki Barber, the League’s printmaking instructor is spending one month as a studio-based artist in residence at Rajamangala University in Chiang Mai. There, she is able to interact directly with students, faculty, and Thai artists, experiencing the technical differences between Seattle and Chiang Mai printmaking techniques.
Nikki sent us another “postcard” via email. Look at her apron. The Seattle Artist League is now officially international!

I also have had the pleasure of giving a demo on my process to students at Rajamangala University of Technology, Lanna. Artists from Thailand and nearby countries (plus the USA!)
I had about three people translating for me during the demo. The cool thing about Printmaking is most shops are standardized with similar equipment. Despite the language difference, we were all pretty much on the same page.
